Roger K. Young is a relatively new LDS author, exploding on the scene when his
scriptural/ Apostolic quote study on the signs and events of the last days,
*AS A THIEF IN THE NIGHT* was finally published and made available for the general
public. (It had been privately published for about 3 years, having been written
in 1990).
In 1995 Brother Young's book *AS A THIEF IN THE NIGHT* became an instant LDS

CHAPTER I.
MUCH SOONER THAN EXPECTED
The thing that should concern us most is that the Lord has said that His Coming
will be "as a thief in the night" Indications are that the savior's
Coming will be much sooner than expected and catch most people, including the
saints not ready. (2 Peter 3:10)
Parley P. Pratt wrote:
"But, notwithstanding all these things are written, His coming will overtake
the world unawares, as the flood did the people in the days of Noah."
CHAPTER II.
IDENTIFYING THE POLITICAL KINGDOM THAT EVENTUALLY GATHER THE ARMIES TO ARMAGEDDON
The scriptures describe that in the last days there will be two opposing kingdoms,
one true kingdom of Christ and one apostate kingdom of Satan. The scriptures
go into some detail concerning these two kingdoms in the last days. John, Daniel
and Nephi describe the rise of the kingdom of God on earth during the last days,
indicating that it starts very small but continues to grow larger and stronger
with unseen spiritual help, and eventually, with the return of the Savior to
the earth, takes over from Satan's evil kingdom, the affairs of the earth during
a 1000-year period known as the Millennium.

THE SEVEN LAST PLAGUES OF THE WRATH OF GOD

will come along so naturally as the consequences of certain causes, that unless
our eyes are enlightened by the Spirit of God, and the spirit of revelation

WARS, RUMORS OF WAR AND WAR IN AMERICA
"And ye shall hear of wars and rumors of wars...For nation shall rise
against nation, and kingdom against kingdom..." Matthew 24:6-7
"Men will harden their hearts against me, and they will take up the sword,
one against another, and they will will one another." D&C 45:33
Bruce R. McConkie talked about how terrible these wars would be:
"Those with refined senses find it difficult to conceive of the desolation,
destruction, and death that will prevail during the final great battles ushering
in Christ's reign of peace. So great shall be the slaughter and mass murder,
the carnage and gore, the butchery and violent death of warring men, that their
decaying bodies 'shall stop the noses of the passengers,' and it shall be a

Though many of the events that have been described previously affect the entire
world, they are primarily centered or initiate from the "Old World"
or the world around Jerusalem. However, in the previous chapter concerning the

we can for the things which are to come in the very near future. The Prophets
have repeatedly told us to prepare by
1.) Setting aside food storage etc., "Should the lord decide at this time
to cleanse the Church... a famine in this land of one year's duration could wipe
out a large percentage of slothful members, including some ward and stake officers.

2.) Learning how to garden and do things on our own, "We will see the day

3.) Preparing spiritually by following the prophet's admonitions and separate
ourselves from the "things" of the world. "The men and women who
desire to obtain seats in the celestial kingdom will find that they must
battle with the enemy of all righteousness every day." Brigham Young, Journal

THE VERY NEAR FUTURE
"Behold, vengeance cometh speedily upon the inhabitants of the earth, a day
of wrath, a day of burning, a day of desolation, of weeping, of mourning, and
of lamentation: and as a whirlwind it shall come upon all the face of the earth,
said the Lord. "And upon my house shall it begin, and from my house shall
it go forth, saith the Lord: "First among those among you, saith the Lord,
who have professed to know my name and have not known me, and have blasphemed
against me in the midst of my house, saith the lord." D&C 112:24-26
CONCLUSION & SUMMARY
