"Max" is a one of a kind FOrd Bronco that has
been hand built and is a totaly customized Off-Road vehicle capable of going
almost anywhere a full-size 4x4 can squeeze into.
At last check I have spent about $65,000 total on the truck since buying it new
in 1987.
UPDATE:
(November 23rd, 2004)
What a month this has been. As a result of a corporate bankruptcy "Max"
was seized as an asset of the corporation early in November. As you can imagine
this was a pretty sad time for me as I have had her for a very long time. The
bankruptcy trustee decided to seize "Max" as a result of having been
directed to this www site by some unknown enemy of mine that was trying to make
sure anything of any value that I had was taken away from me. Problem was, that
Max was in bits and pieces and not even close to being drivable when they showed
up to seize her. Nevertheless, they brought a flat-bed truck and winched her
onto it and drove away. At that point I thought I would never see her again
and that they would simply part her out as no one other than me could ever figure
out how to re-assemble all the bits and peices of a totally custom truck. Well,
I showed up at court today for a meeting with the Trustee and to turn over the
Title to the truck. MUCH to my utter amazement he informed me that he had decided
NOT to keep the truck. That after having had the opportunity to fully examine
"Max" up close and in person, that it was not worth nearly as much
as he had been led to beleive by that unnamed 3rd party... ANd he proceeded
to hand me back the title and tell me to arrange for pick up of the truck! Imagine
my surprise!! I got my baby back, and can pick up right where I left off on
the restoration !!
(October, 2004)
After 17 years and Appx. 250,000 miles on her its time for a full frame
off restoration and whole lot of new sheetmetal.
Since May I have stripped out the floorpan on the truck, removed the fuel tank,
removed the entire dashboard assembly, and taken the fiberglass roof off for
the first time.
A whole new hand made steel floor has been welded in from the rear tailgate to just behind the front seats. A 12 point roll cage has been custom fabricated as have new wheel wells, a completly new front dash, a new hand made fuel tank, and major modifications to the front bumper. The roof rack and the dashboard will be going to the powder coater soon for finishing touches. Then all of the lights will be re-attached to the roof rack and the slow process of re-installing all of the old gauges and a couple new ones will get going on the dash. Unline the previous dash, this one will be 100% quick-Disconect. Allowing the Entire front dash and all electrical connections to be lifted and removed from the truck at the twist of a few Zeus fittings.
Once all of this is done, the truck will be heading to the sand blaster to have all of the interior and exterior pant removed in preperation for a very custom "Havasu" paint job.
